March - June 2002
June 2004

We are currently staying at Salt Creek Park as camp hosts. The park is close to our oldest son and his family. We came in March and will be staying through June. This is one of the most beautiful parks we have visited to date.

Work-camping experience:

This park has the most beauty of any we have yet visited. The view from the host sites is breath taking! The duties are very easy with the park asking for 24 hours per week, total for two people. That 24 hours includes the cleaning of the fire pits as needed, and also litter patrol. This park is by far the most litter free park that we have hosted in and I am amazed by how little litter is left behind by the users of Washington parks. This is a county park, operated by Callalam County. There is one full-time and one part-time ranger who live on the park, as well as one seasonal staff member. The park manager could not be more accomadationg. We spent four months here, but the county only askes for a one month minimum. The work is very easy and time off is plentiful, with many things to see and places to visit in this area. It is a place that we will probably return to, one day. The host site has full hook-ups but no phone, although a phone is available in the park office for limited use by the host. The park is located about 15 miles from Port Angeles, Wa.
